The Detective's Bureau of the Erlanger Police Department is made up of a supervisor and 5 investigators. Lt. Michael Jansing oversees the investigation unit. The investigators are assigned to investigate criminal activity in the cities of Erlanger and Crescent Springs. One investigators concentrates his focus on illegal narcotics and violent criminal activity.
The team of investigators have many different specialties. Our team consists of graduates from the FBI National Academy, the National Forensic Academy, the Northeast Counter Drug Training Center Polygraph School and the DEA investigator's school.
The Criminal Investigations Division opened 234 new felony cases
during fiscal year 2015. We continue to see drugs, specifically
heroin, as the leading factor in most of these cases. An example is
a federal case which was named one the top thirty gang cases of
2015 with the FBI. This case netted a Mexican cartel member
living on Mary Street.
Another major case this year involved a death investigation during
a traffic accident. The suspect fled the scene but was eventually
located & charged. Other major investigations centered around
several rape cases that were reported but had occurred a few years ago & a case involving
gambling where the detective’s office was able to shut down the location & seize their assets
If anyone has information on criminal activity they are asked to call the Erlanger Police Department at 859-727-2424 or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
