 Finance Clerk


 The City of Erlanger will be accepting applications for the position of Finance Clerk. The Finance Clerk will assist with the budgeting and financial planning for the City and/or day-to-day financial operations of the Finance Department, under the general guidance of the Finance Director. The Finance Clerk develops and oversees the administration of policies, procedures, and work products in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles. The Finance Clerk communicates goals and policies to other employees throughout the City organization. The Finance Clerk has responsibility for a high degree of accuracy and quality in all financial transactions and in developing systems to efficiently and accurately record and report the City’s financial activity to all interested parties who rely on this material to make decisions. The Finance Clerk has primary responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of staff, public officials, auditors, agency representatives, and the general public. This requires a high degree of sensitivity to the needs of others and the ability to communicate technical issues in a clear understandable manner.



  • Maintains, balances and reconciles various cash accounts of the City.

  • Maintains, balances, reconciles and analyzes various balance sheet accounts of the City.  

  • Responsible for entering purchase orders and invoices for all departments.

  • Responsible for processing and issuing accounts payable checks to City vendors.

  • Responsible for ensuring  that payments to City vendors are properly documented and authorized pursuant to the City’s procurement policy.

  • Prepares general ledger journal entries for approval by the Finance Director.

  • Posts various accounting transactions to the general ledger after proper approval and authorization by the Finance Director.

  • Assists department heads and other city staff with questions or issues related to accounting processes or records.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Erlanger Police Department is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of full-time Police Officer. Kentucky Certified Officers are encouraged to apply. At the time of appointment applicants must meet the following conditions:

* Is a citizen of the United States;

Is at least 21 years of age;

* Is a high school graduate or has successfully completed a General Educational Development (G.E.D.) examination;

* Possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle;

* Has been fingerprinted for a criminal background check;

* Has not been convicted of a felony;

* Is not prohibited by federal or state law from possessing a firearm;

* Has been interviewed;

* Has undergone a background investigation;

* Has taken a polygraph examination;

* Has taken a suitability screener;

* Has passed a drug screening test;

* Discharged under honorable conditions, if having served in the armed services;

* Has received and read the Kentucky Law Enforcement Officer’s Code of Ethics;

All applicants are required to take the written exam and PT test which will be administered on May 6, 2017. There is a $15.00 fee for the written test payable by cash or check only.
