Erlanger PSCC is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of 911 Dispatcher. Must be at least 18 years of age, high school graduate or equivalent, valid driver’s license, adequate computer/typing skills, must be physically and mentally able to work under stressful conditions.
Duties of a 911 Dispatcher will include but are not limited to: Receive complaints from public concerning crimes and police emergencies. Broadcast orders to police patrol units in vicinity of complaint to investigate. Operate radio, telephone, or computer equipment to receive reports of fires and medical emergencies and relay information or orders to proper officials. Collateral duties include Terminal Agency Coordinator (T.A.C.), which handle the security and coordination of the National Crime Information Computer (N.C.I.C.); Crime Analyst, which assist the police department members with research, investigation, report compilation, tracking of probation and parolees and sex offenders, and various other tools to promote crime prevention. Dispatchers can also be called upon to stand in for the PSCC Manager in his/her absence, and to represent the Dispatch Center at community events.
Applicants must also pass a police background check, polygraph, physical and psychological examination, and able to work nights, weekends, holidays and a variety of shifts. Applicants are required to fill out a City of Erlanger application, and provide a resume and cover letter to be turned in person to the Director of Human Resources for the City of Erlanger, 505 Commonwealth Avenue, Erlanger, Ky 41018 no later than 4:00 PM on Thursday, March 9th.
